As the final half term before Summer begins, our thoughts are turning towards seaside holidays! Take a look at the Beside the Seaside book list to enhance your summer term topic for KS1. This fabulous collection of fiction and non-fiction books explore coastal geography, seaside creatures and seaside holidays in the past. ‘Rock Pool Secrets’ is a brand new release, which is perfect for this topic. With large flaps on each page, children can lift rocks, shells, seaweed and more to discover what little creatures are lurking beneath.
Magic Beach is a wonderful, poetic story showing the possibilities of turning a normal, everyday place into a magical one! The children at the beach swim, surf, splash through the waves, build sandcastles, beachcomb, fish from the jetty, and have wild imaginative adventures!
One Tiny Turtle, part of the brilliant Nature Storybooks series which combine story and information, follows a tiny turtle’s life cycle. Simple, lyrical words and bright double-page pictures illustrate the astonishing life of a loggerhead sea turtle, who returns to the beach where she was born to lay her own eggs.
