When thinking about the most memorable picture books both from my childhood and in recent years, one name crops up regularly on my list of favourite authors: Jeanne Willis. Characterised by her wry humour, ability to subvert stereotypes and conventions, expert use of rhyme and meter, and willingness to explore difficult topics in a way that children can understand and relate to, her books continue to be firm favourites with children, parents and teachers alike. ‘In Our Garden’ and ‘Wild and Wonderful’ – Outdoor Learning for Spring/Summer
